Airlink Logistics Certified by London Metal Exchange

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has just certified Airlink, one of the UAE's most successful logistics, transport and travel companies, to provide secure warehousing facilities at their new logistics centre in Jebel Ali.

“There are only a 3 LME certified warehouses in the region authorized to store metals on Warrant,” explained Mr Elias Monem, Vice President, Airlink International, “Airlink have been certified to store Copper, Lead, Nickel and Zinc for the LME”.

The London Metal Exchange (LME) is the world's premier non-ferrous metals market, where metals are traded. “Warrants”, as they are called, are in the range of a certain tonnage, typically. 24.5 - 25 tons each.

“A certified warehouse has to comply with certain security arrangements and regularly inspected by the LME. We have allocated an area of 10,000m2 which can accommodate around 80,000 tons of copper cathodes,” added Mr Monem.

Mr Monem explained that their client “the British Company Henry Bath & Sons Ltd, are the principal applicant for the LME certification using Airlink's facilities in Jebel Ali. The various owners of the Metals on Warrant would use the services of Henry Bath & Sons and if the metal happened to be in Dubai, it would be kept at our facilitiy.”
